Turmeric or curcumin? What’s the difference?
Turmeric is the plant that provides curcumin, the clinically studied and beneficial compound. Typically, turmeric contains about 2–5% curcumin, so taking an unstandardized, powdered turmeric product means that very large amounts would be required to get a beneficial amount of curcumin.
The clinically studied curcumin in the family of CuraPro products has been:
- Tested for its curcuminoid content
- Extracted without the use of harsh, toxic solvents
- Grown using traditional methods without the use of synthetic chemicals and pesticides
- Made using solar energy
Curcumin Quality Story:
The turmeric source of the clinically studied curcumin in CuraPro is grown in northeast India without the use of pesticides or chemicals. The crops are sustainably tended by independent, local farmers who are paid reasonable and competitive prices. Raw materials are consistenly analyzed for contaminants and tested for potency in India, in the United States, and according to Canadian requirements.
*Turmeric is (traditionally) used in Herbal Medicine as an anti-inflammatory to help relieve joint pain.

Q. How is CuraPro different than Curamin® with DLPA? Can I take them both together?
CuraPro contains PATENTED clinically studied curcumin and is our all-curcumin product. Curamin with DLPA also contains the same PATENTED clinically studied curcumin along with uniquely standardized boswellia, DL–phenylalanine (DLPA), and ginger as a combination for inflammation and joint pain.* It is perfectly fine to use them together, according to your individual preferences.
Q. How is the curcumin extracted for Terry Naturally CANADA’s CuraPro products?
No dangerous or toxic solvents are used at any point in our extraction process. Only food grade ingredients (derivatives of vinegar and alcohol) are used for our curcumin. In fact, our curcumin is tested three times to ensure it has not been contaminated by chemicals, heavy metals, or other harmful substances:
1. First, as a raw material from India
2. Second, as a raw material in the U.S.
3. And finally, as a finished product for Canada and the U.S.
The result? Only products that meet our high quality standards reach our customers. Our bioavailable curcumin meets or exceeds all Health Canada and U.S. quality standards.
